It is impossible to imagine your household without a modern, electronic fridge. Take the washing machine, for instance: in the late 19th century, laundry was still done by hand everywhere. Iceboxes were being furnished well before the invention of the first electronic household appliances. These literally took the form of a cabinet with blocks of ice inside.
In 1926, it was none other than Albert Einstein who invented the precursor of the modern refrigerator, with the help of physicist Leo Szilard. The so-called "Einstein-Szilard" fridge ran on gas and was under constant pressure. The fridge did not use electricity but a heat source as its energy source, making it suitable for poorer areas. This device was patented in 1930 and is seen by many as the cause of the explosion of the refrigerator worldwide.
Refrigerator bulbs serve to give the user better visibility in the normally dark fridge. Sometimes, something can go wrong or wear out; the lamp in the fridge stops working.
