Step-by-step plan

What do you need?

  • Motor
  • Cross-head screwdriver
  • Flathead screwdriver
  • Socket spanner

Always first:

  • Unplug the motor.
  • Turn off the tap.
  • Tip: When disassembling the old part, take pictures frequently, so you can easily see how to reassemble the new part.

Replacing the motor of the washing machine:

1. Loosen the bottom/back plate of the washing machine.
To replace the motor, you need to be at the back of the washing machine. Therefore, turn the washing machine over and loosen the back plate. To make it easier to remove the motor, you should also remove the bottom of the washing machine.

2. Remove the old motor.
The motor is still attached with the wiring. This wiring needs to be loosened. Use the screwdriver to push up the lock and pull the wiring loose. Make sure all connections are loose. Then disconnect the drive belt from the motor shaft and the belt wheel. Loosen the screws/bolts securing the motor to the housing. Remove the old motor.

3. Insert the new motor.
Insert the new motor and tighten the bolts/screws. Reattach all wiring. Replace the drive belt. Put the drive belt around the motor shaft first and then around the belt wheel.

4. Replace the back and bottom.
Place the bottom back on the washing machine and tighten the screws. Then also reattach the back to the washing machine by tightening the screws. Put the washing machine back in place. You have replaced the motor and can use the washing machine again!

The correct number is the type- or model number and NOT the serial number. The model number is a row of numbers and/or letters. Sometimes the model number contains a hyphen (-) or a forward slash (/).
