Refrigerator - Does not cool properly anymore

Unfortunately, it is a more common problem: the refrigerator no longer cools properly. When a fridge doesn't cool properly anymore, products don't stay cold and you can often throw them away. This is very annoying and a shame of course! Fortunately, in most cases the solution is very simple. Most problems are easy and quick to solve with the help of pliers and a screwdriver. So take a quick look at the possible causes and solutions.

If there is a problem with the cooling of the refrigerator, the cause in most cases lies with the thermostat. There are a few things you can check first, before replacing the thermostat:

  • Is the temperature set correctly?
  • Is icing blocking the function of the refrigerator?
  • Can the refrigerator ventilate properly?
  • Is the compressor still making noise (is the motor still working)?

If all this works, the problem is probably with the thermostat. Fortunately, a thermostat is easy to replace yourself. Below are a number of solutions for the problems mentioned. You will have solved the problem in no time!

The correct number is the type- or model number and NOT the serial number. The model number is a row of numbers and/or letters. Sometimes the model number contains a hyphen (-) or a forward slash (/).
